Frequency Specific Microcurrent
FSM is a truly revolutionary therapy in its own right which can be used to treat a myriad of conditions and can greatly enhance acupuncture outcomes. Microcurrents are physiological currents that naturally run through our tissues as a means of sending important signals around the body instantaneously. When injury or illness occurs these currents are often disrupted, thereby inhibiting healing. Doctors have been using frequencies to treat people since the 1800s, and through the research and trial and error by many practitioners, we now have lists of frequencies that are specific to each tissue or system in the body. In 1995 Dr. Carolyn McMakin discovered that exposing the body to two different microcurrent frequencies simultaneously (one addressing the root cause of the problem, and the other matching the tissue's/organ's where the problem is located) can have a profound effect on healing and recovery. She discovered that some of the most difficult to treat medical conditions (such as fibromyalgia and other chronic pain conditions) often respond very quickly using this approach.
Many studies have been published showing effectiveness of applying micro currents for therapeutic purposes. Here are just a few examples:
-
In 1982 Cheng et. al. showed that applying 10-500 microamps to rat skin increased their total ATP production by 500%, protein synthesis by 70 % and amino acid transport by 40% (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/7140077/).
-
McKakin et al showed that cytokine levels (IL-1, IL-6, Substance P and TNF-alpha) in patients with fibromyalgia associated with cervical spine injuries were significantly reduced, thereby affecting a drastic reduction in pain and inflammation after 90 minutes of treatment. Most of these patients improved significantly in their symptoms after a course of treatment (https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S1360859205000082).
-
Chaikin et al showed that a large percentage of patients with age related macular degeneration can gain back lost eyesight and prevent deterioration (https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4689270/).
-
Curtis et al published an article about FSM being effective in treating delayed muscle soreness after exercise (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/20538225/).
The US military and professional athletes have embraced FSM as a means of treating pain and aiding in injury recovery. Many doctors and health care providers worldwide are incorporating FSM into their practice, and finding it to be an incredibly useful tool to help patients overcome a myriad of different ailments. Experience with treatment protocols is exchanged amongst thousands of practitioners regularly for the benefit of everyone, with the aim of eliminating treatment protocols that are not effective, and promoting those protocols that work well.
